Are you ready to welcome a furry companion into your life? Here's everything you need to know about the adoption process:
Application Submission: Application includes personal information, living situation, and questions about your experience with pets.
Application Review: Our Board of Directors reviews applications to ensure they meet basic criteria. Checks may include landlord approval, pet policies, and veterinary references.
Meet and Greet: Applicants are invited to meet the available cats. Interaction allows adopters to assess compatibility and choose a cat that fits their lifestyle.
Home Visit: We conduct mandatory home visits to ensure a safe environment for the cat. We will address any concerns and offer advice on cat-proofing the home. Our goal here is to help identify any areas of improvement and make recommendations for the health and safety of the cat. After a successful home check, we require a $50 non-refundable deposit to secure the adoption. This deposit is applied towards your adoption fee.
Adoption Fee and Agreement: Adopters pay an adoption fee that helps us cover the cost of vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchip, flea/tick treatment and other medical expenses. Adopters sign an adoption agreement outlining responsibilities and commitments.
Homecoming: Your new feline family member makes their final trip home!
Post-Adoption Follow-Up: We will check-in after adoption to ensure a smooth transition. We are here to provide support and guidance for any questions or challenges. We encourage adopters to share updates and photos with us!

What does the adoption fee cover?
When you choose Covenant Cat Rescue for adoption, your adoption fee covers essential services and expenses to ensure the well-being of the cats in our care. Here’s what your adoption fee includes:
Spay/Neuter
Vaccinations
FIV/FeLV Tested
Dewormer
Flea Prevention
Microchip with AKCReunite Lifetime Enrollment
It’s important to note that while the adopted pet may have a clean bill of health, adoption fees also help offset the costs of more complex cases, such as animals with severe injuries. These cases require additional veterinary care and treatment.
Furthermore, your adoption fee plays a crucial role in sustaining our rescue organization. Covenant Cat Rescue is a 100% volunteer non-profit rescue that relies on adoption fees and donations to cover operating expenses. We do not receive state or federal funding, making adoption fees vital for our continued operation and ability to rescue and care for homeless pets.
How long does it take to adopt a cat?
We strive to make the adoption process simple and quick. While same day adoptions are possible, the process typically takes 1-3 days. After a successful home check, we require a $50 non-refundable deposit to secure the adoption. After that, we will arrange for you to pick up your feline friend!
